Home Fencing: Restoration or Replacement

If you are thinking about raising the value of your property and its aesthetics, consider giving the fence a makeover. There are many ways you can do this, whether you are restoring it or completely replacing it.

Restoration

If a majority of your fence is still in good condition, you can give it a simple makeover by adding a fresh coat of paint. This is a particularly good strategy if your fence is made out of wood because paint makes it look completely new again, like the day it was first installed.

The trick to painting any wood fence is to clean it with a pressure washer. This allows you to remove aged wood shells, exposing a fresh layer of wood. After that, you can apply any type of paint you want. Additionally, you can prolong your fence’s condition by adding a protective coating or oil to it.

Replacement

Sometimes no amount of paint or protective coating will be enough to save your fence. In this case, you should get a new fence installed by an experienced contractor. Today, you have a lot of great options, including wood, vinyl, wrought iron, chain-link, and aluminum fences.

In terms of maintenance and durability, wrought-iron fences are a great option. They maintain their structure for years and usually have some sort of protective coating. Vinyl fences are also durable, easy to maintain, and offer a welcoming vibe for your property.

There comes a time when the fence around your property just doesn’t cut it anymore. That’s perfectly okay because there are many design and renovation ideas that can give this part of your property its structure and vibrancy back.
